Vacancy: Team leader WOTRO - NWO

14 June 2017

The Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research supports a strong system of sciences in the Netherlands by encouraging quality and innovation in science. Our conviction is that scientific research contributes to our prosperity and well-being and that it provides for our growing need for knowledge: for facing societal challenges, for economic development and to better understand ourselves and the world.

NWO-WOTRO Science for Global Development programmes, funds and monitors innovative research on global issues, with a focus on sustainable development and poverty reduction. NWO-WOTROs research projects are realised by interdisciplinary teams of researchers from the North and South and in close collaboration with non-academic stakeholders. These partnerships yield solutions for development challenges and strengthen the bridge between research, policy and practice.

WOTRO has a open vacancy for a team leader that connects the worlds of research and inclusive global development (0.8-1.0 fte).

As a team leader would be responsible for leading the WOTRO team, which means that you act as a manager who directs, encourages and coaches about 14 employees. Together with the team, you develop and implement the strategy for the Sustainable Development Goals and inclusive global development (WOTRO). These activities are characterized by an interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary nature, cooperation and knowledge sharing, with internal and external partners, and include diverse stakeholders. You advise the WOTRO steering committee and the Head of ‘Samenwerkingsinitiatieven’ and operate as a secretary of the 'WOTRO' steering committee. You acquire funding for scientific research in SDGs and inclusive global development, where NWO can play an intermediary role with existing and new internal and external financiers (also internationally).
